| The accreditation process is a provider driven process. The provider chooses when to apply, how long to take in Self-Study, and when to request the observation visit. With every provider being in a different stage of readiness, it is difficult to give a time frame for how long the process will take you. The accreditation process takes 9 months to 3 years. |

- Application Step: 2 weeks to process the completed application and mail the self-study materials
- Self-Study Step: providers have a minimum of 2 months to two years in the self study process
- Observation Step: 6 - 12 weeks total for the following four portions
- Documentation
- Assignment: 6-8 weeks to to process the complete request and find an observer
- Self-Observation/Self-Certified Standards: after the observer is assigned and before the observation visit is completed
- Observation Visit: within 30 days of the assignment
- Decision Step: NAFCC will notify the provider by mail 8-12 weeks after all observation materials are received
