Observation

In this step, NAFCC assigns an observer, works with the observer and candidate to schedule the visit, and the observation takes place. The observer and candidate return observation material to NAFCC.

Once candidate eligibility has been verified, NAFCC contacts the candidate. The candidate is asked to choose 1 of 2 months during which the observation visit will be scheduled. The observation visit occurs in the month the candidate chooses, either the 3rd or the 4th month after eligibility verification (see schedule below). The candidate is asked to identify 4 business days that will be excluded from the observation visit schedule.

An NAFCC Accreditation Specialist assigns the observer and works with the observer to schedule the visit. Although the candidate has chosen the month for the visit and has excluded days that the visit will not occur, the candidate does not know the specific day of the visit.

After the month for the observation has been selected, NAFCC will send the Candidate Observation Packet, which includes the following.

Provider Self Certification
Parent Surveys
Conflict of Interest Statement
Evaluation of the Observer

After the observation visit, the candidate returns the provider self-certification, parent surveys, conflict of interest statement, and the evaluation of the observer to NAFCC to be used in the decision step.
