Election Bio — I have been working in and with the family child care field since 1998. Currently, I am the Director of Public Policy for the Maryland State Family Child Care Association. This is a paid position in which I keep MSFCCA apprised of all policies and procedures that affect family child care.

I prepare testimony and orally testify before Maryland’s General Assembly and have recently been appointed the Chair of the Office of Child Care’s Advisory Council. I have been a registered and nationally accredited family child care provider and truly feel that we as stakeholders should be at any and all tables that discuss our profession. I have written and managed four grants to nationally accredit 46 providers since 2005, and recently wrote and won a grant to bring a dedicated trainer and technical assistant to family child care providers as a pilot program to address barriers to accreditation, reaccreditation, increased professional development, and participation in the CACFP program. I am a firm believer in building relationships in order to open resources to get to a result in a more timely and efficient manner.

I will bring my skills as a previous family child care provider, a trainer, grant writer, and most importantly, a good collaborator to Region III. I have a proven record developing and implementing strategic plans and will work with providers in Region III to develop such a plan to strengthen each states leadership capacity, membership, partners, and collaboration with other states within their region.
