Election Bio — Carla currently has a family child care business in her home. Carla’s Curiosity Corner has been in operation since 2004.  She has worked in the early childhood field since 1991.  She started working for a center based daycare. And then moved on to use this experience and her love of children to work for a private school in Wichita, Kansas for the next 13 years. At that point, she chose to leave her administrative position and share her passion within her own home, trying to make a more personal investment in children’s lives.

Through her enthusiasm for the field of Family Child Care she has become involved in many organizations local, state and nationwide.  Some of her most recent activities include: Facilitator for the Kansas Quality Rating Group (her local   R & R). Membership on the state level with the Child Care Coalition of Kansas, where she was honored to be considered as a nominee for Home Provider of the Year and the Kansas Association for the Education of Young Children (KAEYC).

Through her membership and association with NAFCC she has involved with Accreditation from 2008 to present. She whole heartily believes in the Accreditation benefits to her profession.

Some of the interests and hobbies she enjoy most are attending numerous trainings, related to her vocation, sporting events, family gatherings and teaching young children.

She excited to join the NAFCC Board of Directors as the Region 7 Representative.

Carla resides in Derby, KS with her husband and three children.
