Election Bio — I am interested in the Region 10 Representative position in order to promote the quality and professionalism of family child care providers. I believe strongly that NAFCC Accreditation along with the NAFCC mission and goals are the core of family child care. I have been a family child care provider since 1983 and am currently NAFCC Accredited and an Accreditation Observer! I am a graduate from Montana State University Billings with a specialization in early childhood education. I have a Master’s Degree from Concordia University in Portland Oregon and have been a Master Trainer in Oregon for eight years.

Family child care is always my top passion. I love meeting family child care providers, hearing what they have to share and going into the homes of providers as a mentor. My choice to be a family child care provider for the past 30 years has given me the opportunity to meet hundreds of providers and understand their needs and opinions. I have the ability to approach situations with positive, thoughtful reflection and have understanding for family child care issues. I have volunteered on state boards in Montana and Oregon and currently have the position of President of Oregon Family Child Care Network. In April, I completed the Infant Toddler Mental Health curriculum at Portland State University, a two year cohort program.

The skills I have as a trainer and speaker as well as working with groups of many boards and committees would be an asset to NAFCC. Promoting quality through NAFCC Accreditation would be the top message of priority for me. As a NAFCC Regional Representative I will put my passion for family child care to work. I am willing to put in the time and commitment for this position. I strive to grow leaders in this profession and make a commitment to helping people see family child care as professional. Serving through the national board would give me the opportunity to spark interest in accreditation and spread the word about professionalism.
