Election Bio — My strong commitment to quality family child care goes back many years, beginning when I was a provider in the late 1960's. Since that time, my contributions to the field of family child care have grown immensely. Over a 27-year career with Air Force Family Member Programs, I held two Major Command positions responsible for Family Child Care Programs, center-based Child Development Programs, and Youth Programs. My responsibilities were to develop policy and procedures and provide oversight for approximately thirty Air Force bases around the world. I then assisted in developing and implementing policy for the Air Force Family Child Care Program throughout the United States and on installations in many overseas countries. Over the many years, I have conducted too many home visits to remember, and enjoyed (nearly) all of them. The dedication and caring of these providers never ceased to amaze me; the satisfaction of seeing children and families benefit from their quality programs was very rewarding and reinforced my respect for the profession.
I am a current Member-at-Large of NAFCC, a member of the NAFCC Accreditation Council, and Cochair of the NAFCC Virginia Benham Scholarship Committee. I would consider it an honor to continue my role as one of three Members-at-Large. My promise to you, members of NAFCC, is to continue to contribute to the NAFCC organization using the experience and knowledge gained through a 27-year career with the Air Force and from my past and current roles with NAFCC. My commitment remains strong - not only to the organization, but most especially to the providers, children, and families we serve.
