Election Bio — In Hawaii where I was born, we gather into our homes in the spirit of ohana (family), where we envelope with care and love, the children and families who choose us because of wisdom and knowledge. When you believe that the choice you make with your life greatly affects the lives of those you encounter everyday then you realize that the choice of being the best you can be as a Family Child Care Provider matters. I have chosen this profession for 20 years based upon this belief. My vision to create a well balanced, high quality program in my home is strongly supported by parents who have come wanting this type of early childhood environment for their children. This commitment to maintain a high quality family child care environment is the reason why I am seeking a third NAFCC Accreditation. As the CAFCC representative for Los Angeles and the Orange Counties on our state board, I promote this vision of pride in our profession. By being involved on the state board, I feel the responsibility to advocate for providers and for the field of Family Child Care. This commitment to my FCC profession on the local and statewide levels, funnels naturally into supporting and promoting NAFCC as a high performing inclusive organization at the regional and national levels. I believe in and value our profession as family child care providers and choose to be a strong advocate for all of the members of NAFCC as a Member-at-Large.
