Election Bio — Over the last three years I have served as NAFCC Treasurer. Prior to this I served two years as Region 2 Representative, and one year as Secretary. I have brought to NAFCC the professional knowledge and skills I have acquired over the past 30 years as family child care provider, mentor, program coordinator and grant writer. My experience and daily contact with providers, advocates, early childhood agencies and local government gives me the ability to speak on behalf of family child care providers in multiple venues. I have also been an active board member and officer of the Family Child Care Association of NYS. I am currently on the NYSAEYC Board as a member at large and Rochester AEYC as Chair for the Month of the Young Child. I have presented workshops at local, state and national conferences since 1996 on topics as diverse as Financial Management, Children with Special Needs and Early Literacy Development.
Recent activities include working on a statewide committee drafting standards for family child care providers for the New York State Quality Improvement Rating System, as well as attending local and state conferences to promote NAFCC Accreditation.
During the past three years we have updated the NAFCC Financial Policies and by-laws to guide the organization in a direction that leads to better internal financial practices and greater financial stability. As Chair of the Finance Committee I have helped the committee revamp the budget process and present an annual balanced budget in a timely manner.
I am personally and professionally dedicated to promoting family child care as an early education setting for children. As Treasurer, I would continue to bring my love and dedication to the field of family child care, along with my accumulated knowledge and experience to support the Mission and Vision of NAFCC. As Treasurer I would continue to make decisions that would support and strengthen quality early childhood programs in family child care homes.
