Election Bio — I believe that I would make a great Region 8 Representative because I have been a child care provider and small business owner since 1999. I believe in the “It Takes a Village...” philosophy, as well as “No Man is an Island”. I know that it takes all of us to raise our families, as well as grow our businesses. NAFCC is stronger as a group than we are individually! We have a tremendous obligation to support quality in family child care.

I served as the regional coordinator for Providers Empowering Providers since 2009. In that capacity, I have built many networks and facilitated numerous training and learning opportunities for our providers. I currently serve on the Board of Review for STARS (Statewide Training and Resource System) as well as served on the rules and revision committee for our Department of Family Services agency.

My business, Laurie’s Inn has the distinction of being the first Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom in the State of Wyoming as well as the 10th in the Nation. Our families are involved in our day to day activities and participate in our once a month family activity. Among our upcoming activities will be the constructing and creating our first greenhouse! We are so excited and honored to have been chosen as a recipient of this year’s Terri Lynne Lokoff Outstanding Child Care Professional of the Year award.

If chosen as your Region 8 Representative, I will bring the same amount of energy, enthusiasm and dedication as I do for my own business and the families that I serve.
