Public Policy

The Mission of the National Association for Family Child Care is to promote quality child care by strengthening the profession of family child care. Through our Director of Public Policy in Washington, DC and the Public Policy Committee, we promote policies at the national, state, and local levels that support resources, respect, recognition, and compensation for providers.

The Public Policy Committee meets annually at the national conference and maintains an aggressive policy agenda through conference calls and networking. Members of the committee share local and state information with the Director that informs the agenda. As issues emerge that call for research and a national position, the Director also works with other leading national organizations and experts in the field to craft position statements which are then approved and adopted by the NAFCC Board of Directors. In addition, we offer links which can be used to access resources from other early care and education organizations.
