Hawaii

"We are Stronger Together"  when we work as One Voice (United) was felt by every attendee at Region 9's conference August 9-11, on Kauai, Hawaii.  The Mayor of Kauai welcomed us by sending his PIO delegate, Public Information Officer Mary Daubert (Ginny Zywot's sister) to present a beautiful framed plaque to Marva Lyons, NAFCC Region 9 Representative.  Marva, with the help of Kay Paasche, spearheaded the conference by reaching out to attendees from all of the major islands and California.  The feeling of "Aloha" where people are open to and welcome different ideas brought about lively discussions on the floor.  NAFCC Member at large, Ginny Zywot brought the national "Magic of Family Child Care" spirit to this conference in her presentation.  Advocates and agencies (PATCH) who work with Family Child Care Providers in Hawaii, tell us of how the state's legislators value the needs of those who work in the early childhood industry.  This was such good news.  Marva is working on next year's conference to be held on Kona, Hawaii August 8-10, 2013.
