Accreditation Facilitation Projects
What is an AFP?
Because NAFCC recognizes that many Accreditation Facilitation Projects - affectionately known as AFPs - support accreditation in several early childhood venues, we have made a deliberate decision to adapt the definition used by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in its manual Best Practices of Accreditation Facilitation Projects (Means & Pepper, 2010, page 6.)
Adapted for the family child care field, accreditation facilitation projects is defined as: "projects that support quality improvement efforts of family child care programs in many local communities and states and, in an effort to raise program quality, provide technical assistance and support to programs working on NAFCC Accreditation."
Why should I register as an NAFCC AFP?
The online registration process allows NAFCC to maintain current contact information and collect demographic information on projects. It provides a way for NAFCC to know who is facilitating accreditation. It is also a vehicle for disseminating the most current information regarding accreditation.
While the relationship between NAFCC and AFP’s remains informal, NAFCC wishes to be supportive of projects as they work closely with providers in quality improvement. When projects register, they receive services such as access to the basic AFP website with an option for extended services, accreditation e-news letter, and email updates.
